Creating for the

Glory of God

My art is whimsical, fantastical, and calming. I am very seasonally driven when it comes to my work, with each month having its own unique blend of designs, colors, and themes. My art reflects the nature of these seasons from primroses in the spring to pinecones in the autumn. I often blend fantasy with nature, creating forest gnomes, fairy homes in mushrooms, and enchanted woodland cottages.

Throughout history, there has been a longing for some other, better, more beautiful place. The fantastical is what we escape to. We humans see the brokenness of this present world and dare to hope for something better. We create faeries and giants, enchanted castles, and wishing wells. We pursue fairyland because we seek something higher. This desire fuels my creativity. I seek to bring the fantastic into the ordinary. And because of my faith in Jesus Christ, I know that the love of a fairy world and fantasy is a mere shadow of something even more glorious than what my mind can conceive of. There is another world - one far better than fairyland! That is precisely the hope that inspires every stroke of paint and every line of pencil and sustains me through every moment in which this world seems too heavy to bear.

As a Christian, I feel I must do everything I can to combat the evil forces in our world. Creating beautiful art brings light and beauty into this broken universe. Every painting, sculpture, and design sings of God’s goodness, of beauty forever untarnished, and of hope. This is my call as an artist – to create beauty to combat the forces of darkness that seek to destroy this world. I truly believe creating is a spiritual battle. God gave me the gift of artistic talent and creativity. What would please Satan more then, than to extinguish that flame? If I create, emulating my Creator God, I am bringing glory to Him, using the gifts he bestowed upon me to bring light and beauty into this world in His name; yet I know the devil will do everything in his power to squash it. So, I find myself overwhelmed by this gift God gave me, this responsibility. I want to use it to help others get a glimpse of a fantasy world, and the beauty surrounding us in the natural world, and I pray that they will one day discover that true “other world” - the new heaven and new earth that is promised to those who place their hope and trust in Christ.
